Intervention at the Borghetto Santo Spirito Motorway Tollbooth

As commissioned by the Società Autostrada dei Fiori S.p.A., a project was developed to upgrade the north side of the Borghetto Santo Spirito highway tollbooth, with the aim of improving its functionality and protection from atmospheric agents, particularly from winds coming from the north.

The intervention includes:

• Creation of a coverfor the entrance area, which is currently raised above street level.
• Partial shielding of the north and east sides with terracotta paneling, in continuity with the existing architectural language.
• Screened openings with terracotta sunshades, to provide visibility and protection for personnel.
• Redevelopment of access steps and downsizing of the existing flowerbed, with green compensation along the pedestrian sidewalk.

The intervention is spread over a covered area of 15 square meters, with a net height of 3.20 m. The materials used, including cotto and copper, are consistent with the finishes of the existing tollhouse. The stormwater channelization was also integrated into the new copper cladding for a functional and aesthetically harmonious result.
